Golden Beach - SHANKARPUR

GOLDEN BEACH - SHANKARPUR

It was christmas time and this time it was satureday. So that means we had two days to spent somewhere we can go and relax way from the city life. But as usual it was too late for us to realize that. Thousands of bengali tourists had already planed and booked every single spot is there around kolkata. So all the places we thought of going initially were packed. So we had nowhere to go. But thanks to Anindya my friend who came up with a news of a new hotel in construction at Shankarpur and we didn.t wasted a single moment in dialing the numbers. We managed to book a room. So finally we were going to Shankarpur.

Shankarpur is a beach village in East Medinipur district of West Bengal. Shankarpur is about 185 km from Kolkata Beach Is Best Beach In Eastern India.

Our plan was to wake up early and catch the bus for digha.

25th December, 2010:

I woke up at 5 and quickly got ready. It was quite chilly that day. We all met at the discussed location except for Suman who is as usual following some other country's timezone.
Then we all went to Garia Bus depot to catch the bus. There was a big queue for tickets at the counter. After 1 hours wait we finally got seats in the CSTC bus. So here we go again four friends (Anindya, Subhajit, Suman and Me) on a another small weekend trip. It was almost 8 when the bus started its engine. After 4 hours or so we got down from the bus at a place called Choddomile which is 7 Kms away from Digha. We quickly hired a motor van. And after 30 minutes ride we finally reached the Golden Beach, Shankarpur. Our hotel was in between construction. The ground floor's construction complete, though some work was still remaining. The room wasn't that bad that we thought it would be. We didn't wasted much time in running into the beach. The water was very cold. We were shivering at times under the water. We had a great lunch. After lunch me and subhajit went to the beach again to catch some moments. And as the sun was setting into the ocean the whole beach became golden. We spent most of the time in the beach. We were all chatting till midninght.

26th December, 2010:

Next day morning suman and anindya had a plan to go to the fishermen's village to buy some lobsters. But me and subhajit decided to spent time at the beach. So we spent time clicking mostly. After a while suman and anindya arrived with a bag full of lobsters and a new guest. They caught a red crab on the way. It was big. After the beach session we had our lunch and left for Digha. We hired a jeep for 200. After 40 minutes or so we reached Digha. But there weren't any bus available for us. So we went to station and it was packed with so many people. the only thing missing was the train. After 1 hour wait finally train arrived. It was the first time I had to catch the train from the other side of the track. Because there is so many people and just to get a seat for all of was me and suman took this risk. Eventually we both managed to get three seats each. The journey was nice. We reached howrah station at around 10.30 P.M. We took a cab and of to home before 11.30. So this was my short and simple weekend.
